Cook it

The Cook it project is one of the exciting new elements of the Grow it, Cook it, Transform it project funded by the Big Lottery Community Fund.

The Cook it project encourages young people to learn and develop basic cooking skills.

Working alongside the Grow it project, Dr M’z diner uses ingredients grown in the allotment garden to inspire members to create healthy dishes to be enjoyed by all its members.

Dr Mz Diner is being developed as a pop up café that is open to the public once a month. The café provides young people with training and work experience opportunities and the chance to gain
accreditation in Food Hygiene and ASDAN awards.

The project is supported by local supermarkets who make regular surplus food donations, giving young people the chance to get creative with food that would otherwise have gone to landfill,
encouraging them to think more about waste and sustainability.

This also allows us to support an affordable meal at least once a week.
