What is “Dr.M’z Young People’s Forum”?

Dr.M’z Young People’s Forum is a group which provides young people with the opportunity to express their ideas, needs and opinions.

What is its purpose?

  • to provide Dr.M’z members with the opportunity to have a voice,
  • to gain ownership of their youth project,
  • to have a role in decision making
  • Run activities at Dr.M’z 
  • to benefit their local community by taking part in local events.
  • One of the key purposes of the Forum is to give the members of DrMz a voice, and to give the young people an opportunity to creatively and thoughtfully express their ideas on how to improve DrMz’ service to young people.

Who can be a Forum member?

Anyone aged 11-25

Recent Acheivements:- 

  • Won CAVS 2009 Organisation of The Year
  • Helped out at the Moyor’s Fun Run
  • Supported staff at Dr.M’z during community open days, Carmarthen Youth Festival and during adult learners’ week and youth work week.
  • Signed up as Millennium Volunteers.
  • Peer mentor younger and new members e.g. help them in the digi-lab to use computers, show them around the project, and sharing film editing skills etc… 
  • The Forum group have applied for funding and held a successful celebration that enabled them to recruit new volunteer members.
  • Participated in an Exchange with France
  • the group given up time from their busy lives to participate in accreditation OCN courses such as French Language and Welsh Culture so that they would be able to communicate, be knowledgeable and able to welcome the French counterparts and be ambassadors for Carmarthenshire youth while participating in a French exchange.
  • Partnership work with other youth clubs and organisations. Including Carmarthenshire County Council, Carmarthen Town Council, TK Maxx, CAVS, Carmarthen Towns Mayor and many, many more!
  • The group is also committed to Dr.M’z recycling project and encourages other young people to recycle. All paper, plastics, cans, mobile phones and ink cartage recycling scheme is overseen by the group
